Ronda Rousey Selling T-shirts to Support Charity

UFC fighter Ronda Rousey has started marketing T-shirts printed with her signature slogan to raise funds for charity. In just under 24 hours after the launch, she had managed to sell 13,000 of them.

The T-shirts that bear her famous catchphrase are being sold to aid a center for women’s mental health and body issues. A part of the money raised will be donated to Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services.

Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services is a center that pays close attention to mental health including suicide prevention and body image. Rousey’s father ended his own life on realizing that he would be a paraplegic due to a major back injury. She also hopes to catch the attention of women struggling with body issues with her t-shirt line.

The t-shirt line has a black and white image of the UFC fighter sporting a sports bra in a truly affirmative pose. As of, August 12, 2015 more than 32,232 had been sold surpassing the set goal of was 1,000.

In addition to the limited edition of selling the t-shirts, Rousey is very philanthropic and in March 2015, she donated $30,000 to the Instituto Recao, a judo school and “social project” where hundreds of children take part in judo lessons. The center also teaches children interdisciplinary program with the aim of assisting them remain physically and cognitively fit. Rousey also donated the championship belt she won in Rio at UFC 190 to the school and it will remain preserved in the institution.
